Hardwood Care & Maintenance

Keep your floors looking great with our care and maintenance guide.

Routine Hardwood Maintenance

Hardwood care and maintenance are simple! But some basic upkeep is required to ensure that your hardwood flooring consistently looks its best.

For daily hardwood care, sweeping is the name of the game. By sweeping on a regular basis, you can help to remove dirt, dust, and other debris present on your hardwood flooring. Debris, if left alone, can scratch your floors and cause an overall grungy look. Your sweeping routine will depend on the foot-traffic the room(s) receive.

Caring for Your Hardwood

Proper maintenance can ensure that your hardwood floors look their best and continue to perform well over time. Here are basic carpet care steps:

  • Sweep regularly to remove dirt, dust, and other debris.
  • When a spill happens, address it immediately by wiping up the mess with a cloth or paper towel. If the mess is solid in nature, sweep it up using your broom.
  • Use mats at entryways to reduce the amount of dirt and debris tracked onto your carpet, which can leave your hardwood looking shoddy.
  • Remove shoes before entering the house to prevent dirt and debris from being tracked onto your hardwood.
  • Rotate your furniture regularly to prevent heavy wear and tear on specific areas of the hardwood.
  • Use furniture pads under to avoid scratches when moving furniture.
  • Trim your pet's nails regularly to avoid scratches on your hardwood.
  • Rotate rugs to ensure UV damage does not occur to select areas of your hardwood.
